About

Trish Jaffa was born to an artistic family in Zimbabwe. Her father was an artist and part of the Bulawayo Art Club. He mostly enjoyed painting landscapes and began teaching Trish from the age of two.

After winning a number of medals and competitions at the Annual Rhodesian Railway Art Shows, Trish dedicated her time to studying art.

Trish was further taught by Edingbourgh born, Paul Conkie, who taught at the University in Bulawayo and imparted much on the use of colour. Helen Leros, a well-known artist and teacher in Zimbabwe taught Trish the joys of being spontasneous and the importance of allowing art works to develop without restriction by preconceived ideas.

Trish organised the "48 Artists Exhibition" in Bylawayo at the Naakes Galley, and after moving to Cape Town she enrolled at Ruthe Prowse to study under Reyno Swart.
